CVS 2/24/09 Patchouly

Yes, I am frequenting CVS daily now, and not just 1, more like 4 different stores!  But it has paid off - today I was able to find the elusive Venus Bonus Pack Emily got (originally $14.99, on sale for $7.99 - $2 coupon, get back 4 ECB), as well as a Shick Intuition razor (to go with my free refills from the other day!) with free samples of Dove shampoo and conditioner ($8.99 - $3 coupon, get back 4 ECB) and I finally found the Renuzit Triscent ($5.49 - $4 coupon, get back 2 ECB), yay!  I actually paid around $4 OOP for all this (including a Swifter Carpet Flick clearanced to $3.25 - $2 coupon) due to some miscalculations (CVS math is hard!) but I still have $12 ECB so I can't complain!

Today was a great free food day!

10 SoyJoy bars $5 - $1 coupon + $5 rebate
2 packs Extra gum BOGO + BOGO coupon = both FREE

Total: used $3 ECB paid 96 cents OOP

Today I found a 3 pack of Schick Intuition cartridges on clearance for $2.57 and I had a $3 coupon!  So I added a pack of gum (for which I had a 75 cent coupon) and paid 50 cents for both!

Kohls Birthday Deal

I had a 15% off and a $10 off coupon for my birthday at Kohls and was able to get a different Nike swimsuit bottom to go with a Nike swimsuit I bought there last year.  The bottoms were originally $38 and I paid $1.25 for them!  This was an exciting find because I LOVE swimsuits and now have something new to add to my collection!

Free Makeup at Ulta

I was by Ulta today and got another free sample of the Bare Escentuals make-up. The cashier actually gave me two samples which was exciting! This after another sales person told me the free sample wasn't worth it. I said, "It's free right?" and he said "Yes" so I was like, "Well it's worth it then". I don't think he was to happy about this response since he really didn't know what to say and then just walked away.

CVS 2/20/09 Emily

Not the best CVS week but I was able to finally find the Venus Gift Box!

Venus Embrace Gift Box which includes the Razor, Travel Cover, ShowerPod, Shave Gel, Olay Moisture sample, and 2 Replacements $7.99 - $2 coupon = $5.99 + $4 ECB
Renuzit Tri-Scents $5.49 - $4 coupon = $1.49 + $2 ECB

Used $11.96 ECB to pay plus $1.70 OOP and Earned $9 ECB

CVS 2/20/09 Emily

So after realizing I was missing out on some deals this week at CVS I ended up hitting up two CVSs today.

Transaction 1:
Bodiheat 3pks 4 x $3.99 - $4 pellie coupon = $11.96 + earn $12 ECB
CVS Cotton Rounds 25 count 2 x $.99 = $1.98 + earn $2 ECB
Creat Whitestrips Trail Size $5.99 -$5.99 coupon = FREE
Earinse $7.99 = $7.99 ECB
Used $4 off $20 CVS coupon and $13.99 ECBs to pay Total $5.02 OOP and Earned $21.99 ECB

Transaction 2:
Colgate Toothpaste 4 x $2.99 - $6 coupons = $5.96+ earn $11.96 ECB
Johnson & Johnson Bandaids $4.99 - $1 coupon = $3.99 + $3 ECB
Used $9.99 ECB to pay plus $.54 OOP and Earned $14.96 ECB

Free Photos

Today at Walgreens you could order 20 prints for FREE by entering the code "oneday" online - I did this with 2 different accounts getting a total of 40 prints for free, which was perfect since I just got back from a trip to Disney World and have lots of pictures to print!

Delias Birthday Deal

I've been wanting this Save Water shirt from Delias but it was $29.50 - kinda pricey for a tshirt. But for my birthday I had a $10 off $25 coupon to use and the shirt I wanted was on sale for $19.50 and then I found another shirt on sale for $6.99 (originally $26.50) which put me just over $25 so with the $10 off I ended up getting 2 shirts for $17, which was less than the price of the shirt I wanted in the first place!

CVS 2/20/09 Patchouly

Emily filled me in on the CVS deals this week and I was able to get 5 Colgate toothpastes and 2 Neutrogena sunscreens for a total of 64 cents OOP and I still have 13 ECBs!!!

Sephora Birthday Gift

The Free Birthday gift at Sephora these days is a trio of lip glosses - pretty fun!  One is missing in the picture because I gave the dark red color to my mom...  I also picked up my free bare essentuals sample while I was there.  At some Sephora's you don't even need to be a beauty insider, you can just ask for the sample!

VS Birthday gift

I had a $10 birthday coupon for Victoria's Secret and they had some random things 75% off so I ended up getting 3 bronzing lotions with sunscreen for FREE!!!  They were supposed to be $18.50 each!  Happy Birthday to me!  PS - whenever I set up my stuff to take pictures, my cat, Zoey, always comes over to check it out and get in the shot and she then proceeds to knock everything down - apparently she either loves or hates deals!

CVS 2/15/09 Emily

Since Patchouly is off to Disney for her birthday looks like it's just me and my exciting CVS trip today. Today's trip got another "impressive" remark from the person in-line behind me as well as the cashier laughing and calling me a "smarty pants".

L'Oreal Skin Genesis Pore Minimizing Skin Re-Smoother $19.99, used $1 off coupon
Bought above so I got L'Oreal Skin Genesis Night Complex for FREE ($19.99 value)
CVS Cotton Rounds 25 count $.99 x 2 = $1.98 + earn $2 ECB
Colgate Toothpaste $2.99 + earn $2.99 ECB
CVS Cough Drops $.99 = FREE after coupon

Total = $23.96 - $4 CVS coupon - $20 ECB = $.07 OOP (dumb tax) + earned $4.99 ECB
Total saved = $47.04

Free Makeup at Sephora

Stopped by Sephora yesterday and got my free 10-day sample of Bare Escentuals make-up. I love this make-up and since it's on the pricey side it's really exciting to get a free sample of it! All you have to do is be a member of the Sephora rewards club which is totally free.

Free Chick-fil-A

It was free breakfast week at the Chick-fil-A by my house this week! I only ended up getting free breakfast on Friday though but that was ok since it was free chicken minis day, my favorite!!

Cheap Chocolate for V-Day at Walgreens!

Starbucks chocolate is on sale 2 for $10 plus there is a coupon in the Easy Saver Rebate book for $6 off 2 bags.  There are also $1.00 coupons right by the chocolate (from a "blinkie" machine) - use 1 for each bag you buy.  So if you buy 2 bags it would be $10 - $6 - $2 = $2 so $1/bag!  Most of them are some sort of coffee flavor, but I hate coffee and found a Vanilla Bean flavor that seems to be coffee free!

I stopped by Jack and the Box on my way home today and got my free medium curly fries! Apparently by doing this I'm helping save Jack :-)

Shutterfly Photo Book

I created a photo book on Shutterfly about a month ago when I thought I had a coupon code to get a free book. As it turned out the code was no good! I've been waiting for another code and finally found one this weekend. The code worked for me though it doesn't seem to work for anyone else. I only had to end up paying shipping and handling for the book. So the code saved me $29.99!

Walgreens 2/8/09 Emily

Schick Xtreme3 Disposable Razors (4 count with 2 extra)
$4.99 - $2 coupon - $2 Walgreens coupon = $.99

CVS 2/8/09 Emily

After a lesson from Patchouly here's what I got from CVS today!!
Transaction 1:
Gillette Fusion Gamer razor
$7.99 - $4.00 coupon = $3.99 + earn $4 ECB
2 CVS Cotton Rounds 25 count
$.99 x 2 = $1.98 + earn $2 ECB
3 Greeting Cards
$.99 x 3 = $2.97 +earn $3 ECB
Total = $9.94 + earned $9 ECB
Transaction 2:
Glade Lasting Impressions
$6.99 - $4.00 coupon = $2.99 + $2 ECB
Glade Sense & Spray
$6.99 - $4.00 coupon = $2.99 + $2 ECB
Total = $6.62 paid with $6 ECBs from transaction 1 so I only paid tax OOP $.62 + earned $4 ECB

I also some how ended up getting my $2 ECB back. Some confusion happened when the guy behind me in-line said wow that's "impressive"! So I think the cashier ever took the $2 ECB out of my hand. So I now have a total from last week and this week of $29 in ECB which I plan to use on L'Oreal products next week!

CVS 2/8/09 Patchouly

I think I might be getting the hang of CVS-ing!
Transaction 1:
Gillette Fusion Gamer razor
$7.99 - $4.00 coupon = $3.99 + earn $4 ECB
2 StayFree pads 18 count
$3.89 x 2 = $7.78 - $3.89 buy one get one coupon =$3.89 + earn $4 ECB
2 CVS Cotton Rounds 25 count
$.99 x 2 = $1.98 + earn $2 ECB
Total = $9.86 paid with ECB's = $.69 OOP + earned $10 ECB
Transaction 2:
2 CVS Cotton Rounds 25 count
$.99 x 2 = $1.98 - $1 coupon = $.98 + earn $2 ECB
3 Greeting Cards
$.99 x 3 = $2.97 + earn $3 ECB
Total = $3.95 paid with ECBs = $0 OOP + earned $5 ECB
So I started with $10 in ECB, paid $.69 OOP and ended up with $11 ECB! For me, this is an accomplishment!

Free Makeup Addition

While at Rite Aid and Longs today I found the free Physicans Formula Bronze Booster (40% off at Rite Aid this week) and Organic wear mascara that Patchouly mentioned in an early post. I went online and printed out the rebate forms to mail-in. That's $18.92 in free items!!

Longs Emily 2/6/09

Longs is a West Coast drug store chain that also does a few free rebates each month. Like Rite Aid their deals start on Friday. This month's free item is for a Fructis Styling Item which you can only get for one week. I of course stopped by today and got mine! I used a $1 coupon plus the $2.99 rebate I'll receive means I made $1!

While at Longs today I learned that they were bought out by CVS in August. Looks like Longs will slowly be going away :-(

Rite Aid Emily 2/6/09

For some reason the ads for Rite Aid in Southern California come out on Friday instead of Sunday, like normal. So today I headed to Rite Aid to get my free stuff! It wasn't the best Rite Aid day but I did get a few good items and made some money. The Fructis Hairspray is free after rebate plus I used a $1 coupon so I made a dollar there! I also bought Nivea lip care for $2.99 even though the rebate is for only $2. I also used a $5 gift certificate I received from Rite Aid for buying merchandise during the holidays so I got everything for free and will get a $5 rebate back!

Sobe Life Water

I couldn't find any of the 50 cent coupons, but I was able to locate 40 cent ones (after much searching I finally scrounged up enough between CVS, Walgreens, and Tops) so I ended up doing the Sobe deal at Target this week.  I got 10 bottles of Sobe Life Water for $10 and used 10 Sobe coupons for 40 cents off each so I saved $4, then when you buy 10 bottles, you get a $5 Target gift card, so it was like paying $1.00 for 10 bottles - 10 cents each!

Wal-mart

I don't usually frequent Wal-mart because I just don't like it, for many reasons. But it was my last hope to get some money for an item I got at Circuit City but did not return before they went out of business! And Wal-mart came through for me - they returned the item without a receipt, no questions asked and gave me a gift card! Target and Best Buy would not return, exchange, give store credit AT ALL without a receipt. So anyhow, now I have money I need to spend at Wal-mart, so I ended up getting some cat food for 70 cents! They had small bags of Friskies for $4.00 and I had two $4 coupons that I printed from the Purina website, so basically the cat food was free, I just had to pay 70 cents of tax, which of course I paid with my gift card!

Free Makeup!

Check the cosmetics displays for Physician's Formula Bronze Booster with a hot pink Try Me Free sticker! I got mine at Rite Aid, but you should be able to find it at any drug store. You just go to their website (www.physiciansformula.com) and print out a rebate form, send it along with your receipt and the pink Try Me Free sticker (so don't lose it!) and you get your money back (a $14.95 value)! They also have the same deal for their new mascara, although I have not found it yet.

CVS 2/1/09 Addition

I finally found a store with more L'Oreal products!  So I used my ECB's from my last L'Oreal purchase ($10) plus a $3 coupon, and threw in the CVS beauty magazine as a filler item (only 99 cents) since it has coupons in it (although nothing too thrilling but might come in handy someday!) and paid 23 cents, plus I earned $10 more in ECB's!  Maybe CVS-ing is fun after all!

Walgreens addition

I somehow missed this the first time around, but have since purchased: You can also get a 4 oz. bottle of multipurpose no rub contact solution FREE (after rebate) at Walgreens, making for a total of 6 FREE ITEMS this month!

Wal-Mart Sample

I received a lotion sample in the mail today from Wal-mart (check out the link on the right, Wal-mart puts up new samples all the time so check back often) though it was a bit disappointing. I had assumed as with most Wal-mart samples you get that it would be a decent size but this sample was barly enough to cover one of my hands!

Target 2/3/09

At Target they have Cherry 7Up Antioxidant (not sure what that means - it looks like regular cherry 7Up to me!) 2 liters for 79 cents (although at my store they only had 2 liters in Diet) and 20 oz. bottles for 49 cents - these are great deals for people who love pop (yes, we say POP, not soda!) as much as me! They also have baby cans for 25 cents if you just want to try it. There should be an endcap of these products in the food section.

This week they also have Sobe Life Water on sale 10 bottles for $10 and you get a $5 gift card in return, so it ends up being 50 cents/bottle. I have heard some stores have coupons on the bottles for 50 cents off, essentially making them free, although I have not found any...

Also, the Global Bazaar/Home Section in the back left corner of most stores is now 50% off - hopefully it will go 75% soon!

Deal of the Day

Awhile ago I got a free $25 gift certificate to Restaurant.com from StartSampling so I redeemed it today for Cole's (a random restaurant in Buffalo) - we had to spend $35 but got $25 off so we got 2 entrees, 2 beers (for Rob), and a dessert (for me) for $10 (plus tip) because we ordered exactly $35!  The only downside was that I always want dessert and never get it because a. I'm too full or b. it's too expensive so tonight when I could finally get it, all they had was key lime pie and expresso chocolate cake - um, I HATE lime AND coffee!!!  But I ate the key lime anyhow, that's how much I love dessert and deals!

Free Food in February!

Tuesday Feb. 3 = Free Grand Slam breakfast at Denny's from 6am-2pm  www.dennys.com
Feb. 24 = Free short stack of pancakes at IHOP from 7am-10pm  www.ihoppancakeday.com

Super Bowl and Universal Studios

I was just watching the Super Bowl (Go Steelers!) and saw the Universal Studios commercial that the first 100,000 people to sign-up on their website would get a free 7-day pass. While calling Patchouly to fill her in I signed-up. Here's hoping I'm one of the first 100,000 though am I really going to be going to Universal Studios Orlando this year?

Update: Looks like Patchouly and I could be going to Universal Studios Orlando this year after all! As it turns out we were both one of the first 100,000 to get the free 7-day ticket!! We haven't worked out the details yet but plan to go in October hopefully!

January Deal at Target

I've been wanting this mirror in the new items they had in the Home Event Section at Target. Since they put all items 30% off after only being out a week I decided to keep watch on the items and hope they went even more on sale especially since my mirror was $99.99. After weeks of watching I got a $10 coupon in the Sunday paper and had a 10% card (I have a Target credit card and receive these 10% off cards after I spend so much money.) so I decided to go ahead and get the mirror. I ended up paying $54 for it which is close to half so in the end a pretty good deal!

UPDATE: The home section that my mirror was in went 75% off, I sadly couldn't find the mirror to rebuy it but Patchouly did! I sent her my receipt and she returned the mirror she bought with my receipt and I ended up getting $67 back! So I only ended up paying $17 for the mirror!

January Emily

Below is what I can remember of the Free stuff I've received in the mail during January 2009. Patchouly is a lot more experienced at the free stuff by mail but I'm working my way there :-)
Cosmo magazine
TV Guide magazine
Quaker mini delights sample
SoyJoy bar
Cascadian Farms granola bar sample
$50 from my cell phone rebate

CVS 2/1/09 Emily

Unlike Patchouly who only recently has gotten the ECB bug, I've been doing them for awhile. Granted I'm not super crazy about them like the people on the forums but I will use them and have in the past got good deals with them. During Christmas time I had a whole bunch of them saved up which came in very handy the day I broke my Crock Pot on the way to work. It was nacho Friday and we needed a Crock Pot! So I ran to CVS used my ECBs to buy a $25 Crock Pot for .79 cents!

Today in order to get all of the CVS deals I had to go to 3 CVSs. At the first CVS I bought Electrasol Tabs for $2.90-$2.50 manufacturer coupon (MFC) = .40 cents out of pocket (OOP). I also used an in-ad coupon from CVS to get two Hershey's products 2/$3. I had a $3 ECB so my total bill was .49 cents OOP. (First picture above)

After failing at the second CVS I went to a third one where they had the L'Oreal products. I got 4 L'Oreal face cleanser wipes, L'Oreal Skin Genesis Cleanser, and CVS cough drops for $18.88 but also received $20 in ECBs for next time. To get this great deal I used a total of $8 in mfc and $8.16 in CVS coupons. Very exciting except for the fact that I had an argument with the manager over the mfc. In the end she let me use them though she wasn't to happy about it at all! (Second picture above)

Walgreens 2/1/09 Emily

This morning started as most Sunday mornings do, looking at the Sunday newspaper ads. A favorite tradition of mine that started when I was younger and my dad would make us breakfast on Sunday mornings while we looked at the newspaper. This morning though I already knew most of the deals I needed to head for thanks to Patchouly and her wonderful research on the deal forums!

At Walgreens I got all four of these items for free once I receive my rebates back at the end of the month. I also used coupons on three of the items and made $3!

Patchouly's Birthday

My birthday happens to be in February so I thought I would keep you informed of all the birthday deals I get this month! Check back throughout the month to see the deals and then sign up for your birthday!
The best is that I am going to Disney for my birthday (the 16th) and my grandpa's 75th birthday (the 17th) so we will both get in FREE one day each!

Target-ing

It may seem like Emily and I love the drugstores, but really, our hearts belong to Target - we love that store SO much!  I go there several times a week, if nothing else than to check the Clearance endcaps!  A few weeks ago, I got these shirts for $2.50 each (originally $9.99) - FYI, Emily and I are originally from Ohio!!!  And I got this jacket for $9.98 (originally $39.99) - Target is the best!

CVS 2/1/09 Patchouly

I'm going to be honest, I am not good at CVS-ing! I can't handle the Extra Care Bucks and all the math you have to do in your head on the spot to get a great deal! Some people have Excel spreadsheets for this - that is too intense, even for me! But I do try, so today I went to 4 different CVS's trying to find the Loreal Revitalift products - they were sold out everywhere! I was finally able to get at least 2, although I wanted 4 (Emily got 4 in CA!). I spent a total of $7.36 and ended up with $10 Extra Care Bucks (ECBs) - not too bad for someone who will probably never fully grasp the fine art of CVS-ing!

Walgreens 2/1/09 Patchouly

These items are FREE after rebates at Walgreens, and by using coupons I made a $5 profit!

I also asked at the cosmetics counter if they had any samples/coupons, and was given a whole bag full of coupons! It never hurts to ask!
